PHOENIX - Today marks the 75th anniversary of the formal surrender of Japan, marking the end of World War II. Rep Richard Andrade, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, released the following statement to remember this historical day:
“On September 2, 1945, formal surrender documents were signed aboard the USS Missouri, designating the day as the official Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day). The United States entered WWII when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7th, 1941. Our brave service members fought for 4 years, risking everything. Let our Nation remember the ultimate sacrifice paid by so many and with heartfelt thanks to the Greatest Generation.”
